Cats, babies and road accidents

"If a cat does something, we call it instinct; if we do the same thing, for the same reason, we call it intelligence." - Will Cuppy

Right. That's probably why this morning I found on my balcony one very, very annoyed bumble bee and one bewildered cat with half of her face and one front paw twice the size it would normally be - and demonstrating a complete lack of self protection as she tried to catch the insect again and again until I saw what was going on and took her indoors. Sometimes I wonder how there are any cats left in this world...

I tried to take a picture of her predicament but it seems that the modern bumble bee stocks amphetamine instead of ordinary venom as all I managed to capture was a grey blur.

Anyway, on Sunday I became a godmother as J's and G's little daughter had her very first party in honour of her brand new name. What a sweet little baby she is. I make it my business to be the one she can turn to whenever she finds she has questions too embarrasing to ask her parents. So welcome, little Eira, to this circle of friends!

On the way back from the party we witnessed a road accident as a car driver completely failed to notice a motorcyclist and promptly ran him over. Thankfully the only things truly damaged were the car and the motorbike. I think that the biggest shock was to notice how long it took for the help to arrive (or maybe it just felt that way) but once it got there by golly was it efficient! In a matter of minutes the poor biker was packed away in an ambulance, the firemen had cleaned the debris and the police had written down the eyewitnesses' accounts.

So if oy are palning to have an accidet 1) do it in Southern Finland as the help will reach you faster, and b) rest assured that they know what they are doing.
