It's nice to be back

What on Earth did we do before the invention of the internet? On Tuesday whenever I tried to log on all I got was a apologetic message saying that "a cable is not connected" or something along these lines. I tell you, I was about to don a reed skirt and a huge wooden mask and try some dancing and chanting until a nice young man from my provider's helpdesk told me that it was the modem which had, for some reason, decided to call it quits and stopped working.

Today, after three painful days of waiting, biting my fingernails and despite the lack of any distractions getting absolutely nothing done (or just because of that) another nice young man got on his bicycle and brought me a new modem. A lovely, sleek, black modem with pretty flashing lights and nothing but working bits inside. You should have heard my sigh of relief at the sight of the Google logo appearing on the screen.

But seriously, what did we do before the internet conquered the planet?
